Die Reise erzeugt eine fiktive Beziehung zwischen Blick und Landschaft.
Und wenn man als "Raum" jenen Umgang mit Orten bezeichnet, der
das Definitionsmerkmal der Reise bildet;
dann muß hinzugefügt werden, daß es Räume gibt, in denen der Einzelne
sich auch dann als Zuschauer empfindet, wenn das Schauspiel ihn
nicht wirklich berührt.
-Ganz so, als wäre die Position des Zuschauers das Wesentliche
am Schauspel, als wäre der Zuschauer in der Position des Zuschauers
sein eigenes Schauspiel.

Travel constructs a fictional relationship between gaze and the
landscape.
And while we use the word `space` to describe the frequentation
of places which specifically defines the journey,
we should still remember that there are spaces in which the individual
feels himself to be a spectator without paying much attention
to the spectacle.
As if the position of spectator were the essence of the spectacle,
as if basically the spectator in the position of a spectator were
his own spectacle.
